Ara Ako was a 12 book magazine series published with Huia Publisher for Ara Poutama, Department of Corrections. These magazines are workbooks, or 'learning pathways' intended to help incarcerated men and women in Aotearoa with their numeracy and literacy.
Each issue centred on a theme or story grounded in te ao Māori, with the aim of educating incarcerated audiences and supporting safer, more successful reintegration into society.
